New York State Renewable Energy Task Force

In June of 2007, while still serving as Lieutenant Governor, David A. Paterson was appointed to lead and convene New York's Renewable Energy Task Force. The Task Force was asked to identify and examine the barriers preventing increased production and use of renewable energy and alternative fuels, and to recommend policies and financial incentives to overcome those barriers. The Task Force will also identify market areas needing future research and development.

ACE NY's Executive Director, Carol E. Murphy, was appointed as a member of the Task Force and served as Chair of the Task Force's Subcommittee on Central Generation and Co-Chair of the Workforce Development Subcommittee.

On February 25, 2008, the Task Force released it's report with a number of recommendations outlining a roadmap for how New York can effectively increase renewable energy generation. These included increasing the use of solar energy, funding the state’s program to get 25 percent of our electricity from renewable energy, and new business incentives to attract renewable energy companies and create green jobs.
