New York State Climate Action Council

In 2009 Governor David Paterson issued Executive Order No. 24 establishing the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions in New York State by 80 percent below the levels emitted in 1990 by the year 2050.
The Executive Order also created the New York Climate Action Council (CAC) with a directive to prepare a Climate Action Plan. The Climate Action Plan will assess how all economic sectors can reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and adapt to climate change. The Plan will also identify the extent to which such actions support New York's goals for a clean energy economy.
In forming the draft Plan, the Council drew on the guidance and perspective of an Integration Advisory Panel made up of technical experts and statewide stakeholders, as well as Technical Work Groups which provided technical analysis and designed policy options. Carol E. Murphy, Executive Director of ACE NY, serves on both the Integration Advisory Panel and the Power Supply and Delivery Technical Work Group.
The Climate Action Plan Interim Report was issued on November 9, 2010, and a formal public comment period for the report ended on February 7, 2011. For more information and to view submitted comments, please visit www.nyclimatecomments.us.
