Selected Accomplishments for 2025

U.S. District Court Rules Against Trump Wind Order: ACE NY was successful in its federal lawsuit against President Trump’s “Wind Ban.” On Dec. 8, a federal judge vacated the Trump administration's Day 1 executive order that halted permits for both onshore and offshore wind projects across the country. The judge determined that the order — which froze leasing, permitting and approvals for wind projects pending a wider review — was "unlawful" following a challenge brought by the attorneys general of more than a dozen states, led by New York, and ACE NY.

Tax Appraisal Bill: ACE NY worked with partners to draft, pass, and get signed into law a provision that standardizes the way renewable energy projects are taxed in New York.

Empire Wind 1: NYOWA and ACE NY coordinated with Gov. Hochul and NYSERDA as the governor worked to overturn President Trump’s stop-work order for the Empire Wind 1 offshore wind project.

RFP: ACE NY worked with NYSERDA as they deployed a Tier 1 RFP to enable developers to take advantage of expiring federal tax credits.

Fall Conference: ACE NY hosted its annual fall conference in October, with a record attendance of more than 550.

Aurora Report: NYOWA released a report that shows that offshore wind is the only affordable way to supply New York City and Long Island’s future energy needs.

Long Island Energy Storage Summit: ACE NY and NYSERDA brought together fire safety officials and Long Island elected officials for an energy storage safety event.

UBS Sustainability Fair: NYOWA cohosted an event at UBS Arena which highlighted the economic successes offshore wind has already had, and the potential for the future.

Turbine Transport: ACE NY worked with a coalition of partners to reform the turbine transport process in New York, which has already shown increased efficiencies.

Voice in the Media: ACE NY and NYOWA were mentioned in the media more than 110 times this past year with our organization being a trusted source of information on the industry for dozens of reporters around the world.
